Hi everyone,
Anyone who knows me also knows that I’ve had a few Fondant ‘nightmares’ in the past. Some of it just down to hot weather and humidity, some down to my ineptitude, but some, I’m afraid, were from using inferior fondant. Thus began the search. I wanted to buy in 5-10kg sizes, as I use quite a lot ( for a hobby baker at least ) so I headed to Amazon and eBay, checking reviews and prices etc. I knew the names of a few brands because of all the YouTube tutorials I watch, so also had a good idea of which were ‘high end’. Unfortunately, they were also priced at more than I was prepared to pay!
Now, I have to admit that Renshaws wasn’t a brand I’d considered. I can’t remember when or where, but someone once told me it didn’t taste nice. So I was pleasantly surprised to find some excellent reviews, and very reasonable prices! I duly ordered 5kg from thecakedecoratingco on eBay. And it’s great! Tastes like vanilla, takes colour well, easy to roll with good elasticity. I’ve just received my second order (Christmas Cakes ya know) and I’m really pleased 😊 It just goes to show that just because one person says something negative, you should always try it yourself!
Even better, if you go on Renshaws site, there’s recipes and tutorials too! And a list of UK stockists. Win Win
Here’s a few examples of cakes I’ve covered using their deluxe cover paste:
Until next time
Stay safe and healthy
