Cakes, Bakes, and Me

The one with the Transylvanian Castle!

Transylvanian Castle

Hello friends,

As my daughter and her boyfriend Josh are shortly starting a new teaching adventure in Romania, and as their birthdays fall just after they leave, we had an early leaving/birthday party for them.

Katie being Katie, (and a big Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan) and Romania being associated with Dracula, there was only one theme for the cake!

We had a lovely gathering, with the boys manning the BBQ, and fruit punch liberally imbibed!

It will be a bitter sweet feeling for Glen and I when we drop them off at the airport. We’re immensely proud, excited and happy that Katie and Josh are fulfilling their dream of working overseas, but obviously a bit sad that we won’t just be able to jump in the car whenever we want to see them!

Having said that, the college they are going to looks very impressive, and the apartment they will be living in is beautiful. More to the point, it has three bedrooms, so there’s no excuse not to visit 😊

We haven’t used our passports since my first surgery in 2012, so I’m very much looking forward to exploring somewhere new after such a long break.

In the meantime, we are looking after Jeremy, Katie’s leopard Gecko until he travels to join them in a couple of weeks. A big responsibility as we have to take him to the vets to get a ‘fit to fly’ certificate! He’s very cute though, so I’m actually looking forward to it. Here’s a picture from the last time we looked after him at Christmas.

Merry Christmas Mummy!

Look at those beautiful markings, he’s gorgeous isn’t he? 😘

Anyway, I’ll say tata for now, but will be back soon

Stay safe and healthy

Debbie ❤
