Birthday Cake Fun

So….. I thought that ‘Frozen Fever’ was over….but apparently not! At least not for a little girl named Frankie who was 5 recently anyway ❄️

So when a colleague of my sons asked for a ‘Frozen’ themed cake for this little girl, I immediately thought ‘Elsa’. I’d recently bought a doll pan but the cake needed to be bigger to feed the party guests, so I added two more layers to the bottom. This made Elsa quite tall, but I found a fashion doll the right height, and crucially, with very long blonde hair! Which made it much easier to plait!

I undressed her (she came with a pink dress and shoes) and then proceeded to wrap her legs and head in cling wrap. Legs to make them food safe in the cake, and head to prevent any hair contamination!

Then I started to re-dress her in blue fondant. I can tell you getting fondant to stick to those slim plastic arms without tearing was no easy task! Body done, I covered the crumb coated cake part of the dress in panels embossed with a snowflake. Once that was done I applied more snowflakes and a paler blue train to the back of the dress.

On the picture I used for inspiration, the front of Elsa’s dress was flattish but flowed out at the back, so I had carved the cake accordingly ❄️

And there she is!

I had a lot of fun making her, and I’m so glad that the birthday girl liked it 😀

That’s it from me for now

Stay safe and healthy

Debbie ❤️
