Using Baking and Cake decorating as a therapeutic tool to help me along my personal journey with a disability
I’ve already mentioned my involvement with two local groups. Greenbrook Panto Society and Greenbrook Theatre Group. Recently we applied for funding via Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving scheme. Well, we both made it to the regional shortlist!

Busy days when you suffer from chronic pain are always followed by a lazy day! Yesterday I had a batch of 48 cupcakes to bake and decorate, then a meeting in the evening. Consequence? I spent most of today sleeping, and now I’m wide awake, but it’s too late to do anything! So I’m amusing  myself by trawling the net for cake decorating videos, and I found this:
I’ve never tried brush embroidery before, so at least I’ve learned something, and it hasn’t been a completely wasted day!
Tip: If you watch this, you may want to turn the volume down. I found the music very distracting. Of course, you may like it!
Yes, I know I only just told you to get creative for Halloween, but my new ‘cake dummy’ arrived, and I wanted to practice!
So, the story is: Last year I made some small 5″ round cakes for the Church Christmas fair. I didn’t sell one….not one 😧
However, my hubby took them into work, and not only did he sell them, he came home with orders for more! (And orders for mince pies and homemade fudge)
Anyway, they were decorated quite traditionally, which is fine btw, but after my regular Pinterest fix, I saw some more contemporary decoration, and I wanted to try some 😊
What do you think? I’ve got loads more to try, and some snowflake plunge cutters on order. Also, I used up some out of date fondant, so didn’t feel wasteful…win win
