Hi folks,
Well, I managed to make a passable ‘Baby Groot’ cake for Katie’s birthday. I have no idea how Zoe from Zoe’s Fancy Cakes makes it look so easy! But a great big thank you to her for the inspiration in the first place 😊
For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, Groot is a character from the film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. He’s basically a sort of tree like alien life form. You’ll have to watch it to find out how ‘Baby Groot’ came about! I haven’t seen the sequel yet, but I believe it’s amazing!
Here’s my take on BG in cake form…
I also made another birthday cake, this time a sticky toffee pudding cake. That wasn’t a surprise for the recipient, but the topper was a bit of a joke at his expense. You see, Josh (the recipient) is a Somerset lad surrounded by us northerners……so it was only to be expected that he would end up with a tractor on top of his cake! I made it from RKT, ganache and fondant. Please don’t mock….(a) Never made RKT before (b) I spent so much time on BG, the tractor wasn’t as detailed as I wanted it to be (good job he’s family 😁)
He’s a good lad, and was delighted with it anyway, proceeding to eat the tyres almost immediately!
That’s almost it for now, except to update you on the 24 hour bakeathon that my daughter in law and friends did last Friday/Saturday. The girls did a fantastic job and the total so far is around £1700! And there’s more sponsorship money to come I believe. Well done Abigail, Rebecca and Kirsty, you’re amazing! ❤❤❤ All proceeds are going to Pendleside Hospice, a charity local to us which does a fantastic job of supporting seriously ill patients and their families. If there’s somewhere like that near you, why not consider raising money for them yourself?
Till next time
Stay safe and healthy
Debbie ❤
